:: Japanese Courses in London | Welcome to our site - Fun and Creative Japanese Education

We teach Japanese language courses in central London. Our courses run over a ten week period, from 10:00-13:00 each Saturday.

We feel that learning Japanese culture is as important as the learning the language. All our classes therefore contain language and cultural tuition. Each week we invite a guest speaker to lecture our students on a particular aspect of Japanese culture. All of our guest speakers are experts in their chosen fields. Our Japanese language course serves two purposes:

Learn to speak Japanese To offer first class Japanese language tuition delivered by highly experienced teachers in a clean and safe working environment, and
Learn Japanese To offer an understanding of Japanese culture through our additional bonus guest talks. The purpose of these lectures is to create interest and simulate your learning experience.

:: An overview of the language course content

By the end of this course you will be able to introduce yourself with greetings, state your likes and dislikes, order food and drink, tell the time, describe the weather, count and name everyday objects, and learn how to describe your daily routines and what you enjoy doing in your free time. Simple expressions will be taught, (for example thank you, please, goodbye, excuse me and sorry) and simple directions will be explained along with key linking words (and, but, so, because, or).

Our teachers will also teach you basic but fundamental Japanese grammar rules – (the particles ka, wa, no, to and ko so a do words). Present, past, future and pronouns – subject, object, possessive will all be studied. Singular vs. Plural, word order – sentence, question, negative and question forming will all be examined as will the structure of giving instructions – using the imperative. We will also examine modal verbs.

All our beginner students will also learn key prepositions and key functions – invitations, offers, suggestions, requests. We will also be teaching key verbs and adjectives/adverbs to describe size, shape, age, and speed. We will examine the alphabets, the phonetic symbols system, character writing system and the different Japanese categories of speech, (with reference to the polite language form). Our Japanese beginners class will also teach our students to write and read at least two hundred basic Japanese words. Our teachers will extensively practise idiomatic expressions, speech tones and pronunciation.

Throughout the course your teacher will constantly refer to hiragana and katakana. With this being a beginners course it is likely that we will not at this stage discuss Kanji.

:: An overview of the cultural course content

Language and Culture are inextricably linked. As far as we are aware we are the only Japanese language school to place such emphasis on this! We have designed our classes to be fun and create learning stymulus. Our guest speakers will place emphasis on cultural awareness with reference to social, political and business etiquette.

Please go ahead and click on the relevant week on the right hand side to see how your class has been structured and who your guest speaker will be!

Our guest speakers, all experts in their chosen fields, will talk to us about the experience of living in Japan, Japanese food, history, Kyoto and Japanese gardens, Shinto and Buddhism, manga and anime, karaoke and music, sumo and martial arts, calligraphy and writing, and lastly, and perhaps most importantly, Japanese survival skills.

The main intention of teaching Japanese culture along with the language is designed to expand the student's awareness of the material to be learned.

Our language teachers are the best we could find in London. We are adamant that you will enjoy the class and learn Japanese as well as the country's varied and colourful culture.

If you plan to visit Japan for a holiday then attending this course would be ideal.

We also write a weekly blog that keeps our readers and visitors to the site updated with Japanese events in London.
