At Leicester we have teaching and research expertise in French, German, Italian and Spanish (including Latin America). We also incorporate the English Language Teaching Unit and offer courses in languages for non-specialists through our Institution-Wide Language Programme or Languages at Leicester. We believe that the study of Modern Languages at Leicester offers students a challenging and stimulating path to a degree, and on to rewarding employment in a wide range of careers. In recent years this belief has been underlined by the excellent performance of the French department in the National Student Survey, coming first overall in 2007 and 2008. Since the majority of our students combine the study of two (or more) languages, this outstanding performance reflects well on the whole School. Whichever languages you study at Leicester, you can be sure of the highest level of teaching and pastoral support from our staff.
