French Helpline provides a complete and friendly service for English speakers seeking advice, interpreting and translation in their dealings with France.

Who are French Helpline?

French helpline is a small UK based business run by Deborah Cheney offering a personal service to individuals or companies who need help with the French language.

Deborah is a native French speaker who has lived in England for over 12 years; is married to an Englishman and has 3 children. She is fluent in both French and English. She is professionally qualified as a lecturer and has worked in the most challenging colleges. With her expertise and experience, she opened a popular French & Spanish Language club for children in North London in 2006 and extended it to running French after school clubs in several primary schools. She was awarded the first prize in the coveted “Mum in a Million” a local press competition sponsored by Viking Direct. She recently featured in an editorial about her school in the magazine for parents “Full of Beans”- see page 10:

Deborah has also been working as a freelance private tutor since 1999 for adults (including British owners of property in France) and school children (GCSE &A-level). When teaching people with second homes in France, they were often asking for her help with matters including banking or making phone call to France. Deborah found it extremely satisfying to assist in these cases. This inspired her to set up the French Helpline as she realised the difficulties they were encountering, even if they could speak some French. The French Helpline is dedicated to helping you with everyday situation in France.
