(Multilingual Research leads to Knowledge)
Learning languages is nowadays not only necessary for many professionals (commerce, industry, tourism…) but also for any other person interested in the world and the people we are surrounded by.
Having acquired a wide knowledge of different languages (English, French,German, Italian, Russian…) Mercè Pañella has set up a method which combines different activities such as communication, intuition, and analysis. Consequently and in a short time this allows people to speak, understand and improve considerably their competence in one or two languages at the same time.
Multilingual methodology
In every language there are always many elements (such as: sounds, words, expressions, structures…) which come from other languages. For this reason, not only in the groups focused on one language, but also in the bilingual groups we take into account other languages. We start from the things the student knows to consolidate the new learning in a wider context, in this way we develop our interactive brain, improve the knowledge of our own language and open the door to learn others.
From the first day we play and try to speak, understand, read…in the language we still don´t know by stimulating everything we already know. As it is said from the European Council learning languages should be functional and not theoretical: it is not necessary to train linguists, but people to be able to speak, understand and make themselves understood with the accuracy and correction that each student wants to achieve.
Activities:
•Playing with words: we know more than we think!
•Playing with sounds: repeating sentences we don´t understand or making them up: the sounds, rhythm and intonation from each language are always unique.
•Playing with the structures of the new language by comparing it with the one we know.
From the first day we work on: CONVERSATION, GRAMMAR, TRANSLATION, PHONETICS.
In all the activities the different pace and interest from each student will be respected, as each learning process is also different and unique.
