This course, 'Functional Grammar' ,puts together the pattern of language and the things you can do with them.
This course is built around a major function of language,such as 'concept building', 'making up messages',and 'reporting what someone said'.
Concept building-is usually expressed by structures build around a noun,called group nouns.
Messages-are often expressed in clauses.
Reports-typically involve a pair of clauses which contains a reporting verb as 'say', and the other beginning with 'that' or having quote marks (" ") round it. |
